Autumn Apple Smoothie with Vanilla

Ease into autumn with this apple smoothie! Fresh apples, creamy bananas, yogurt, nut butter, and warm spices are blended up until smooth. It’s an easy breakfast or snack the whole family will enjoy, and it’s ready in just 5 minutes!

While fall tends to lean hard into rich, cozy comfort foods, this apple smoothie is my lighter counterpoint to the season. I almost always have apples in the fridge, so I make this year-round, not just when the leaves are falling. It’s satisfying without feeling heavy and hits that sweet spot between refreshing and comforting.
The flavor is all about simple ingredients working together. Fresh apples bring brightness, frozen banana gives the smoothie its creamy, spoonable texture, and nut butter adds richness and depth. A splash of vanilla softens everything, while pumpkin pie spice—whether homemade or store-bought—adds those warm, familiar notes that make it feel like fall in a glass.
I make this often as an after-school snack for my daughter, and just as often for breakfast, and on some days it honestly feels like dessert. Blend it a little thicker, and you can even call it “nice cream.” Either way, it’s a cozy, apple-forward smoothie that proves apples absolutely belong in the blender.

Apple smoothie add-ins
Tweak your apple banana smoothie to your taste, or give it a boost with one of these ideas:
- For a sweeter smoothie, add a touch of maple syrup, honey, or agave.
- To make this smoothie more hearty, add some rolled oats. It will make it taste like an apple pie smoothie!
- Give your smoothie a boost by adding ground flax seeds, chia seeds, or hemp hearts.

You’re welcome! I’m so happy you enjoyed the smoothie!
Perfect fall smoothie. I added collagen and dusted the rim of my glass with pumpkin spice. I think I’ll add a 1/2 cup of frozen canned pumpkin to my second smoothie.
I love that you rimmed your glass with pumpkin spice! It looks beautiful and I bet it tasted amazing!
Sooo good! My three year old daughter and I loved this smoothie and will definitely make again.
I’m thrilled that you and your daughter both loved this smoothie!
Have been enjoying this every day at breakfast for the past week!
I’m thrilled to hear that, Mary Ann!
Don’t let the ho-hum pic fool you – this is tasty! I made it for the September Cooking Club. I was surprised at how sweet and flavorful this was from just a few humble ingredients. I threw in a few carrots to add a veg. If I were making it in the morning I would probably add some collagen or hemp seeds for some extra staying power. Thanks!
Great idea about the carrots – more veggies!
This has a crisp apple taste and warm spice flavor all in one. This smoothie is not too thick, it goes down easily. It has the consistency of tomato juice and is really delightful. It’s already in my recipe file.
I’m so happy you enjoyed it!
great recipe, I liked the spinach smoothie recipe you have so I added some here.
Great idea on the added spinach!
