7 Staple Whole30 Sauces (mayo-free/dairy-free)
These 7 Staple Whole30 Sauces will become your daily favorites for lunch and dinner. They are all mayo-free sauces that are Whole30 approved, easy to make, and so delicious.

Raise your hand if you love to smother everything you eat in sauce. (I envision a sea of hands raising across the globe.) Cause we smart people of the internet know this fact:
Sauce = life.
It turns a bland chicken breast into something rave-worthy. It makes us use a celery stick as a spoon. It is 98% the reason to eat anything.
And just because you've committed to eating clean for the next 30 days doesn't mean you have to give up the best thing that happened to food since our caveman days. These sauces are perfect for meal planning when you're on the Whole30 Program. They will help keep your energy levels high while you get to enjoy a healthy relationship with food all month long.
The Whole30 Sauces lineup:
- Spicy Guacamole Sauce
- JalapeƱo Cilantro Chimichurri
- Creamy Bacon Mushroom ā YES!
- Honey-less Mustard Sauce
- Cauliflower Nacho Cheese
- Almond Lime Satay
- Thai Coconut Curry
There's one thing you need to know about these Whole30 sauces: don't wait until you're doing a Whole30 to make them. We make these sauces on the weekly cause they're way too good to save for a special moment.

Whole30 Spicy Guacamole Sauce
This sauce is so good that I shared it with you in the post Creamy Avocado Sauce. This is a staple in our house and I wanted to make sure that everyone had a chance to make it. It was tempting to save it for us Whole30-ers, but sharing is always better.
It's easy to make in your blender and so full of flavor.
We like to eat it:
- For breakfast with eggs and hashbrowns
- At lunch in veggie wraps
- With dinner on fish, chicken, and veggies
- As a snack with veggies (or crackers when we're not doing the Whole30)
Whole30 JalapeƱo Cilantro Chimichurri Sauce
This spicy version of chimichurri is one of my favorites. It's based on the Whole30 Chimichurri Chicken I shared with you a number of years ago.
We like to eat this:
- On grilled or baked fish
- Drizzled on roasted root veggies
- As a salad dressing
- With any grilled meat
Whole30 Creamy Bacon Mushroom Sauce
Bacon and mushrooms were meant for each other. Blend them with some cashews and they make the most delicious creamy sauce.
This sauce is great:
- Eaten by the spoonful. joking/ not joking
- Slathered on pork chops or chicken breasts
- Tossed with veggie noodles

Whole30 Honey-less Mustard Sauce
Just because you're doing a Whole30 doesn't mean you can't have your favorite sauce. Rather than using honey (which isn't allowed on the Whole30) this sauce uses dates as a sweetener. Do remember that eating foods high in natural sugar is not encouraged while doing the Whole30, so only use this sauce in moderation.
We like this on:
- Baked chicken
- Seared salmon
- Roasted root veggies
- Made into Sheet Pan Honey Mustard Chicken
Whole30 Cauliflower Nacho Cheese
I know that nacho cheese sauce doesn't sound like it should be whole30, but I promise you it is. This spicy sauce is 100% dairy-free and packed full of our favorite vegetables. It packs a spicy punch so wimpy tongues beware!
We like to slather this on:
- Baked potatoes
- Whole30 burgers
- Homemade fries
- Taco lettuce wraps
Whole30 Almond Lime Satay
This is your favorite satay turned into a Whole30 sauce. It is based on the sauce I serve with these Thai Chicken Kebabs and is totally addictive.
Serve this:
- As a dip for chicken
- Poured over chicken and veggies with extra coconut milk to make a sauce
- Drizzled over Thai lettuce wraps
- Tossed with veggie noodles
Whole30 Cashew Coconut Curry
Thai curry sauces are our absolute favorite. This one is next level thanks to blending cashews into the sauce which makes it extra creamy.
Use this sauce:
- To poach salmon
- To simmer chicken
- As a dip for cauliflower bites
- Poured over sweet potatoes
- Use it to make this Cashew Coconut Salmon Curry!

Favorite Whole30 Recipes:

Is there an alternative for JalapeƱos as they are not commonly found here?
Any spicy pepper will work. š
Hi ??Ā
These recipes are lovely. My daughter has an allergy to cashews. Is there another way to make the creamy sauces and not use cashews?Ā
You could use another nut butter. I use cashews because they are neutral flavored. I bet that macadamia nuts would work well.
Can you freeze these?
I haven’t tried but I suspect that they can be frozen.
Hey these look amazing, cannot wait to try them. For how long can these be stored in the fridge before they go bad?
I would suggest eating them within the week. š
We make the chimichurri sauce regularly. It has been a staple sauce while I have been on AIP. It tastes delicious, adds a little kick! Other than prepping the cilantro (which seems to take us forever), it is super easy! Thank you!
I’m so happy to hear that you’ve been loving the chimichurri sauce!
I tried the Jalapeno cilantro sauce with a twist. I didn’t have any cilantro, so opted for basil and it was very tasty. Thanks for this list. I’ll definitely be keeping it close by for my dinners and lunches.
That’s such a great idea!
Can any of these go without refrigeration? Iām going hiking, Iād love to make a few to take along.
Technically, from a food-safe perspective, they should all be refrigerated shortly after making them. Personally I would feel comfortable leaving all but the bacon sauce out of refrigeration for a day or two. But you need to do what YOU feel safe doing. š
Pls advice the above dips will taste best with what. I am vegetarian. What can be used instead of bacon. Thank u for the dip recipes.Ā
If you read the post, there are suggestions about how to use each of the 7 sauces. If you’re vegetarian, you’ll need to skip the bacon one as there isn’t a good meat-free substitute for bacon. š
Before I started my Whole30 yesterday, I scoured the internet for sauces that weren’t mayo… Lo and behold… I came across your post and it has been LIFE CHANGING. I could seriously eat these sauces for the rest of my life. Okay that’s pretty over the top but I’m actually that ecastic about how they turned out! They are so delicious and are the biggest key to my Whole30 success! Who needs to buy sauce when homemade tastes so much better? Thank you thank you thank you!! Will definitely tag you on Instagram when I post some of my pictures for credit.
Yay! I’m so happy to hear that! Can’t wait to see the pics on IG!
Hi Kristen!
How long should the buffalo ranch last?! It’s my first time usuing coconut milk so I’m not sure how long it should last in fridge! It’s SO good! Thanks for your help!
I’m sorry but I’m not sure which sauce you’re referring to. Coconut milk based sauces will usually last 4-5 days in the fridge. š
Could Sunbutter be subsitutted for cashee? Nut allergies š
I’ve never used Sunbutter before but I imagine that it would be a good substitute. š
Tried the curry sauce.. It was super tasty. Thanks for the recipes!
I’m so happy to hear it was a hit!
Can these sauces be frozen?
I haven’t tried freezing them so I can’t say for sure.
These are all amazing, Kristen! I don’t know why I don’t prep sauces more often — they really do transform meals! Can’t wait to read your new book!
Oh girl you totally should! Sauces are everything!
I totally can’t wait to try these! The bacon mushroom, nacho cheese, and curry are calling to me!!
I hope you love them all as much as I do!
I love all of your recipes and canāt wait to try these! Cuz sauce IS life! One question: what kind of hot sauce do you like in the cauliflower cheese? Different hot sauces can really change the flavour in things! Thank you š
They totally can! I used Tapatio as it is Whole30 compliant. š
Dairy free nacho cheese? Almond-based satay sauce? Guacamole? OH SNAP, I am totally ready to start cooking these delicious condiments! Not gonna lie, I am obsessed with peanut sauce so I’d be pairing the almond satay with EVERYTHING if I recreate it!
Yaaa! So happy to see you love sauces as much as I do!!
