If you’re looking for a change from the traditional tomato-based pizza sauce, this is your sign to try white garlic pizza sauce! This is a flavorful, creamy, and easy-to-make pizza sauce that will bring a beautiful garlic taste to your ‘za!

White Garlic Pizza Sauce in a glass jar with a wooden spoon

This garlic pizza sauce is my go-to when I want big flavor with very little effort. It comes together in about 10 minutes and has a rich, savory garlic punch that instantly makes any pizza night feel special—especially when it’s spread over my favorite homemade pizza dough.

Instead of roasting garlic, I sauté finely minced cloves in butter until fragrant, which gives the sauce a deeper, more robust garlic flavor in a fraction of the time. It’s a quicker take on the roasted garlic sauce I use on my butternut squash pizza, and it delivers the same cozy, savory payoff. A bit of flour and milk turn it silky and spreadable, and a final whisk of freshly grated parmesan adds body and depth before it’s ready to slather on and top however you like.

Pizza toppings that go well with white garlic sauce

Pizza night’s here, you’ve made your dough and white sauce and now it’s time for toppings. Here are some options that pair nicely with this creamy garlic sauce:

  • Fresh arugula or basil
  • Mozzarella or goat cheese
  • Sauteed mushrooms, spinach, or bell peppers
  • Cooked sausage or chicken
  • Caramelized onions

How to store

Let the sauce cool, then store it in a covered container in the fridge; it will last about 5 days. I don’t recommend freezing this sauce as it may separate when thawed.

If you haven’t tried a pizza with a garlic white sauce, now’s the time! Delicious! I used it for my Manhattan Pizza which includes base layer of garlic white sauce covered with light layer of mozzarella cheese and topped with Canadian bacon rounds (quartered), pineapple tidbits, fresh jalapeno rounds, and ultimately, chopped fresh Roma tomatoes. (note: less is more for the toppings, be stingy and spread everything out into one layer. Chef’s Kiss!

If you only use 1/3 cup of sauce per 12″ pizza how do you save the rest of the sauce to use at another time? Will it freeze?

It’s a bit risky to freeze this sauce as cream based sauces can sometimes separate in the freezer. But it is delicious used as a dip/sauce for roasted veggies as well. I think it would be tasty tossed with some pasta as a side dish, too.
