Get your day off to a delicious start with this creamy almond butter latte. It’s a delicious take on a latte with just enough coffee flavor and plenty of foam on top. It’s easy to make, and it will keep you going all morning!

If you love the flavor of coffee but could do without the crash, this creamy almond butter latte is one of my favorite ways to start the day. It’s a little like a bulletproof-style coffee, with almond butter, coconut oil, and collagen blended right into a hot cup of your favorite brew.
I love how rich and frothy it is — almost like a café latte, but made right at home. It’s cozy, satisfying, and feels like a small morning ritual I actually look forward to. And since it’s completely dairy-free, it fits easily into my everyday routine without sacrificing flavor.

Variations to try
It’s hard to be creative before coffee, so here are a few variation of this almond butter latte for you to try:
- Almond butter date latte: switch up the sweetness and use 1-2 medjool dates instead of maple syrup.
- Chocolate almond butter latte: add 1 tablespoon of cocoa or cacao powder to give this latte a decadent chocolate twist. You could even drizzle the top with a bit of chocolate sauce!
- Raspberry almond butter latte: instead of maple syrup, use our raspberry simple syrup for a fruity twist that tastes a lot like PB&J!
What to serve with an almond butter latte
Enjoy this almond butter latte on its own as a pre-breakfast ritual, or alongside your favorite breakfast. Some of our favorite breakfasts are an egg white omlette or an almond butter oatmeal.
Recipe FAQs
Wait, there’s no milk in this latte?
Nope! The almond butter makes this drink creamy and frothy so there’s no need for milk. This also means it is dairy-free but still full of latte flavor.
What’s the best kind of coffee to use?
You can use any brewed coffee. It can also be coffee from a french press, or if you have a Nespresso machine, one pod will do the trick.
Can I use a different nut butter?
Yep! While we love the taste of almond butter, cashew butter and tahini (sesame paste) make great alternatives.

Could I make this without the coconut oil? I don’t have any on hand and also feel like it might be too fatty for my liking (and also my stomach sometimes acts up).
You could definitely try it. The oil is what makes it really creamy though, so you’ll be missing that part. Butter also works well if you tolerate that better.
Applesauce is supposed to be another alternative to oils or butters, that might be a better option to try?
This is the best homemade latte I’ve ever made and tasted! Thank you for sharing this recipe!!
This was ridiculously delicious! I had to do PB because I’m out of almond butter but it was still so rich and creamy. I don’t know if I can have it any other way! I left out the maple syrup and I still felt the nut butter was enough to provide rich and creamy flavor. Almond butter is my favorite nut butter so I can only imagine how delicious that will be when I try it. Thank you for this simple, flavorful recipe!
Soooo good!! Didn’t look very creamy at first but once I took a sip I was amazed! Didn’t use a blender just one of those hand held frothers
This sounds delicious, but it’s not actually a latte. A latte has a milk base. Since this has no milk in it (regular or vegan milk) it’s actually not a latte or even a macchiato
I finally got a chance to try this for the first time this morning. I wont lie I did add a splash of oatmilk to mine because the original recipe was a little strong for me on the coffee flavoring for me. However, once I got it to my liking it is fabulous. Bonus, I can also use the coconut oil for my smoothies too.
I normally use an almond cream that I make (1C soaked almonds, 1-1.5C water, 1T vanilla, 3T maple syrup) but we will be going on a two week road trip. I love the idea of using almond butter as a sub for my usual creamer. Since we will be hiking 7-9mi each day, I love that this has everything we need and a little sweetness. Thank you!!!
This was creamy and filling. I enjoyed this so much!
That’s so great to hear! I’ve got a bunch on the blog. There’s one I just posted for some paleo banana bread using Vital Proteins. So good too! 🙂
I love this recipe! You’re right you don’t taste the vital Proteins at all. Will make it many more times.
It’s amazing how it blends into the coffee so well, isn’t it? So happy you liked it!
Yummy! First time using Vital Proteins.
I’m so happy you liked it! Vital Proteins are the best, aren’t they?!!
This sounds so delicious! I love that it only requires a blender, which is a kitchen staple, rather than a frother or espresso machine. Will definitely be trying this 🙂
And the best part is how frothy your blender makes the latte. WAY better than any frother. 🙂
super creamy super delicious!!
I’m so happy you like it as much as I do!!!
