Looking for a sweet and simple way to spread the love this Love Day? These Valentine’s pretzel hearts are the way to go – I make these pretzel hearts for most holidays, switching up the sprinkles or color for each occasion, but I LOVE busting out the pink sprinkles for February 14th the most.

These pretzel hearts are the kind of treat that makes you smile before you even take a bite. The chocolate melts into the center and sets up to look like tiny little hearts — sweet, salty, and almost too cute to eat (almost).

They’re super quick and easy to make, which is part of the fun. Just mini pretzels, melted chocolate (white, milk, or dark), a little coconut oil to keep things smooth, and a shower of sprinkles — done in minutes and ready to gift, share, or snack on straight from the tray.

I’ve made these for years, swapping sprinkles for different holidays, but there’s something extra playful about the Valentine’s version. They’re festive, nostalgic, and just the right mix of sweet and salty — basically edible little love notes.

How to decorate Valentine’s pretzel hearts

Now for the best part – dressing up your pretzel hearts with the love and sparkles they deserve! Whether you’re going for a classic look or something over-the-top, love-inspired hearts are truly fun to decorate with kids, on a date, or with your girlfriends.

Here are some decoration ideas:

  • Regular sprinkles: Stick with Valentine’s Day colors like red, pink, and white for a festive touch.
  • Decorative sprinkles: Look for adorable shapes like hearts, roses, or even Xs and Os for extra romance.
  • Pearl sprinkles: For the elegant lovers out there, these add a little glam.
  • Edible glitter: Add some luster to your pretzels with some edible glitter!
  • Heart sprinkles: Keep the love heart theme going with these little heart-shaped sprinkles – they’re too cute.

  • Place the melting wafers and coconut oil into a microwave safe bowl, microwave for 1 minute, then stir. If the chocolate is has not melted, microwave again in 10 second bursts, stirring after each, until it has melted.

  • Use a spoon to drizzle the melted chocolate into the pretzels. If you're using two colors (or two kinds of chocolate) add sprinkles to the first batch before melting the second batch of chocolate.

  • Let the chocolate cool without moving the pretzels. Once it hardens, you can remove the pretzels from the parchment paper.

Notes

Chocolate: You can also use dark or milk chocolate. Or add a drop of food coloring if you’d like pink chocolate.
Pretzels: I prefer the small bites of mini pretzels, but regular-sized pretzels work too. 1 cup = 40 grams or approximately 30 mini pretzels.
Coconut oil: Adding a little coconut oil to the white chocolate helps it to melt easier (white chocolate is notorious for seizing if it gets too hot) and makes it easier to pour into the pretzels. Use refined coconut oil if you don’t want a coconut flavor. Or you can opt for a neutral-flavored oil, such as avocado oil, but know that the chocolate will take longer to harden and will be a little softer.
