Celebrate Pride with these delicious rainbow Pride cookies! Our soft sugar cookie dough is dyed rainbow colors and baked into cookies. Make a big batch to share with all your friends!

We've long been LGBTIQ+ allies. Many of our closest friends, our chosen family, are gay. The recipe for these Pride cookies was developed years ago when we were asked to bring a dessert to a Pride brunch party. We love mixing the rainbow flag colors together to make a colorful tie-dyed cookie.
We start by making a basic sugar cookie dough. Then we divide it into six portions and dye them the colors of the rainbow. By sticking a little bit of each color together we make these pretty rainbow Pride cookies.
The month of June is when Pride month is usually celebrated. But you can celebrate love and diversity all year round with these rainbow cookies.
Happy Pride! 🏳️🌈

What do the colors on the Pride flag represent?
The most recognized Pride flag includes six colors that mean:
- Red: Life
- Orange: Healing
- Yellow: Sunshine
- Green: Nature
- Indigo: Harmony
- Violet: Soul
In 2018, artist Daniel Quasar created the Progress Pride flag which includes the well-known six colors and adds black and brown stripes LGBTIQ+ people of color and blue, pink, and white strips from the trans flag.
If you'd like these Pride cookies to be all-inclusive, add all 11 colors to the mix!
Ingredients needed
To make these Pride cookies, you'll need:
- All-purpose flour
- Baking powder
- Sea salt
- Butter – make sure to let it soften to room temperature.
- Brown sugar – for the proper measurement, pack it into the measuring cup.
- Granulated sugar
- Vanilla extract
- Egg
- Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple food coloring

This recipe starts out like most sugar cookie recipes. The fun begins when we form them into rainbow cookies.
- Whisk the dry ingredients in a bowl.
- Now cream the butter with sugar until it becomes light and fluffy. Then, add the egg and vanilla.
- Mix the dry ingredients into the wet ones to make your cookie dough.
- Now divide the cookie dough into six equal portions and use food coloring to dye them the colors of the rainbow.
- To make the cookies, pinch a teaspoon-sized piece of dough from each color and put them together on a baking sheet.
- Once the sugar cookies bake, they'll blend together into tie-dye rainbow cookies.
We have a tip for making your cookies perfectly round! As soon as they come out of the oven, put a glass that is slightly bigger than a cookie over top of it and give it a little swirl. It will form it into a perfectly round cookie. A martini glass works great for large cookies while a drinking glass works for medium-sized cookies.
