Garlic parmesan croutons! Crispy little numbers that are absolutely loaded with cheesy garlic herb flavor and are ready to take your soup or salad to the next level.
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Cut the bread into 1 ½ inch cubes and put them into a large bowl.
1 loaf cheese bread
Grate the parmesan cheese into a medium-sized bowl. Uses your fingers to crumble the cheese into a powder. Add the nutritional yeast, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper and mix well.
2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese, 2 tablespoons nutritional yeast, 1 tablespoon garlic powder, 1 tablespoon onion powder, 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning, 1 teaspoon EACH: sea salt and pepper
Pour the olive oil over the bread cubes and sprinkle the spices over top. Use your hands to mix the bread cubes and ensure that each cube is well coated in oil and spices.
½ cup olive oil
Transfer the bread cubes to a baking sheet. If there is any of the cheese and spices in the bottom of the bowl, take a few pieces of bread and swipe them through it so make sure all of the flavor is used.
Bake the croutons for 25-30 minutes, mixing them halfway through. They are done when they're golden brown and mostly crispy. They will continue to crisp as they cool.
Notes
If you can't find cheese bread, choose a loaf of sturdy, unsliced bread. Soft sandwich bread will not work well for croutons. Foccacia is another good option!
