This delicious Healthy Apple Crisp is made without any flour, butter, or refined sugar. Sweet apples, topped with a coconut, pecan, and oat crumble, are baked until soft and sweet. It’s an easy to make dessert that is perfect for autumn parties or Thanksgiving dinner.

The Apple Crisp

  • 6 apples, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1/4 cup coconut sugar
  • 1 teaspoon each: cinnamon and vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon each:  nutmeg and sea salt

The Topping

  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats (gluten-free, if needed)
  • 1 cup unsweetened shredded or flaked coconut
  • 1/2 cup pecans, chopped
  • 1/4 cup coconut sugar
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil, melted

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the apples with the coconut sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg, and sea salt. Transfer to a deap-dish pie pan and gently press down.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together all the topping ingredients. Spread the topping evenly over the apples.
  4. Bake for 60 minutes (see notes) until the topping is golden and the apples are soft and bubbling. Check the apple crisp after 40 minutes and, if the topping is getting too brown, loosley cover the pie pan with aluminum foil. Let rest for 15 minutes before serving.

Cook time will vary depending on the type of pan used. If you use a larger baking dish, check on the apple crisp after 30 minutes.
