Ingredients needed
Here's what you'll need to make Cajun sweet potato fries:
- Sweet potatoes: Cut 2 sweet potatoes into Ā¼-inch strips to form your fries. They should all be pretty uniform so that they cook at the same rate.
- Cajun seasoning: Follow this recipe to make your own Cajun seasoning, or use a store-bought Cajun spice blend. Note that if you go with store-bought you won't be able to control the spice or salt levels.
- Olive oil: Douse your fries in some olive oil before popping them into the oven to help them crisp up.
- Parsley: This is optional, but some chopped parsley gives a fresh herby pop to your fries once they're out of the oven.
And for the blue cheese dip:
- Greek yogurt: Sub Greek yogurt for the traditional mayo-based dip and you will up your nutrition and maintain the flavor and creaminess.
- Blue cheese: Use crumbled blue cheese to add some funk to your dip.
- Dijon mustard: Add a sharp bite to your dip by using some dijon mustard.
- Salt & pepper: Add both to taste.
How to make Cajun sweet potato fries
- Season your sweet potatoes: Mix your sweet potato fries in a bowl with some olive oil and the Cajun seasoning.
- Bake: Put the fries on a baking sheet so that they're not touching each other. Bake until they're soft and crispy around the edges.
- Make your dip: Combine the ingredients for the blue cheese dip while the fries bake.
- Serve and enjoy: Sprinkle some parsley on top of your Cajun sweet potato fries and put the dip on the side. Yum!

Recipe FAQs
Can I make this recipe using regular potatoes?
You can use any type of potato for this recipe. Just know that the sweetness from the sweet potatoes won't be present with other types of potatoes, so the balance of flavors will be different.
Are Cajun sweet potato fries spicy?
There is some spice to a Cajun spice blend, but it won't blow your head off. If you make the Cajun seasoning yourself, you can control how hot it will be. If you use a store-bought Cajun blend, you won't be able to test how spicy it is until you're ready to use it.
I don't like blue cheese, what other dip can I use?
If blue cheese isn't your thing, you can always pair these Cajun sweet potato fries with a creamy avocado sauce, chipotle mayo, or this cilantro lime ranch dressing.
Can I make Cajun sweet potato fries in the air fryer?
You sure can! Follow the recipe until it's time to cook. At that point, put your air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and add the sweet potato fries in a single layer. Work in batches if needed, because you'll want to leave some space between them. Cook for 10-12 minutes, flipping once.
