A fun twist on a classic treat
We hear you: the whole cake pop trend feels a little 2014 but trust us on this one. This eggless, no-bake edible cookie dough recipe changes the cake pop game. Your guests will love the surprise of not-quite-cake-pops when they sink their teeth into these. They're a tasty treat that combines nostalgia, innovation, and sheer fun. Also: food on sticks is just more fun to eat. It's science.
Ingredients needed
Butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla ā These typical cookie ingredients form the wet ingredients.
All-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt ā These bring the dough together. Even though we're not baking the cookies, we add baking soda as it provides an authentic cookie dough flavor.
Chocolate chips ā Mini chocolate chips work best here, but you can use regular sized ones if that's what you have on hand.
Chocolate melting waffers + coconut oil ā Melting waffers melt easily into liquid chocolate that is perfect for dipping.
Sprinkles ā these are optional but highly recommended. Use your favorites!
Crafting these is simpler than traditional cake pops, and we adore the ease of a no-bake recipe!
- Start by beating the butter and sugars ā just like in a regular cookie recipe.
- Then, add the flour, baking soda, salt, and mini chocolate chips to form your cookie dough.
- Form the dough into little balls and then let them rest in the fridge for 15 minutes.
- While the dough is resting, make a cake pop stand. We like to use a colander!
- Now melt some chocolate wafers in the microwave.
- Dip the end of a cake pop stick in the melted chocolate before inserting it into a cookie dough ball ā this helps the cookie dough attach to the stick.
- This is the fun part: dipping time! Dip each ball into the chocolate, one at a time, coating it completely and letting excess chocolate drip off.
- Place the cake pops into a holder to dry and decorate with sprinkles. Once the chocolate hardens, they're ready to enjoy!
Cookie dough cake pops are super easy to customize for different occasions! Mix up the color of the sprinkles for different festivities:
- Red and green for Christmas
- Orange, white, green, and purple for Halloween
- Pinks, reds, and whites for Valentine's Day
- Or get a shimmer of silver or gold for New Year's Eve!
Who said you have to stick to sprinkles? You can add whatever toppings you have on hand or personalize it with your family's favorites. You can add crushed nuts, sea salt, edible glitter, brown sugar, candied fruit, or a drizzle of caramel. Be sure to leave a comment telling us what you've tried!
Keep it simple:Ā Ditch the fuss and lay those cake pops out on a tray or plate. Play around with it and do whatever floats your cake-y boat: you can lay them laying down or stick side up! If you decide to present them with the stick ups, just remember to make them with a flat bottom so they don't roll away on you.
In a jar:Ā Bust out those mason jars you've been hoarding and put a handful of cake pops in each one, bouquet ! Any small jar or vase will do the job. If you're feeling fancy, tie a ribbon around the jar.
On cake pop stands:Ā Put your cookie dough cake pops in the spotlight with a cake pop stand. These holders have small holes perfectly spaced and sized for the pop's stick and are available in a wide range of shapes, sizes or tiers.
Individually wrapped: This one is handy if you're giving them out in party favors for a kid's party. Wrap them in eco-friendly cellophane, and tie them off with a little ribbon!
