Places I Love

I’m heading to Havana, Cuba in a few days and can’t wait to see this amazing city. This picture perfectly represents many of my impressions about the iconic city: old cars, crumbling colonial architecture and vibrant people. I am meeting my mom, sister and two and a half year old nephew down there; they’ve already been enjoying Cuba’s charm for almost three weeks now. Hasta luego amigos!
I found the photo on Tumblr but there was no credit to the photographer. If you know the source please let me know as I’d love to give credit.

After spending a month travelling through Iran several years ago, it quickly jumped to the top of my favourite countries I’ve visited list. The people were the most kind, generous and welcoming people I have ever met. The architecture is gorgeous and the food delicious. I highly recommend taking the time to visit. As a woman, often on my own, there was not a single moment where I felt harassed in any way.
Although I was well aware that much of what we see and hear on the news is nothing but propaganda and fear mongering, to see Iran for myself really drove it home. If you haven’t been there before, don’t believe what you see on t.v.
Esfahan, the city that this mosque is in, reminded me a lot of home. There were big green trees and wide boulevards, parks along the river to stroll through for hours and places to picnic at the rivers edge. The main square, Naqsh-e Jahan Square, was built in 1598 and is one of the largest main squares in the world. It is a place to families to gather, picnic and shop in the surrounding bazaars.
If you ever get the opportunity, don’t pass it up. Iran is really a fantastic country.

Iceland’s been on my must visit list ever since a friend went a few years back and brought home pictures like this one. I love the vivid colour typically associated palm trees and white sand beaches but this time seen with snow capped mountains. For more photos of this spa, including one of people laying on snow covered loungers at the spa’s edge, visit Inthralld.
