One of the very nicest things about life is the way we must regularly stop whatever it is
we are doing and devote our attention to eating.

My name is Kristen and I like food. I like it a lot. I like it so much that I have decided to write about it, photograph it and share it with you. I grew up in a rural neighbourhood in Kelowna, BC and moved to Vancouver shortly after college. I’ve travelled the world and have seen many amazing things, but Canada’s West Coast always keeps me coming back for more. Perhaps it is the great food we have here.

I spent nearly 12 years as a vegetarian and the last year trying to convince myself that I still am. These days it seems like it is an outright lie when I say I don’t eat meat; usually because I’m chewing on a piece of bacon as I make that claim. Besides bacon I also like peanut butter, avocados, tomatoes, blue cheese, mint chocolate chip ice cream, whipping cream, peaches, my granny’s apple pie and many, many other yummy things.

I believe that tomatoes and peaches should only be eaten in the summer and that pigs should lead nice lives before they wind up as bacon on my plate. I also believe that when my nephew, and your nieces and nephews and children and grandchildren, grow up, they deserve to see (and eat) the fishes that swim around our oceans; I choose my seafood with this in mind. I encourage you to do the same.

I love my life and feel inspired by the many great people around me. I love sharing ideas with people and if you’d like to share some of your thoughts with me, I’d love to hear from you. If you’d like you can email me at kristen@theendlssmeal.com or leave a comment on any one of my posts :)

Kristen,

I dig your blog!

I love good food, as we all do. But I rarely take the time to prepare a decent meal, never mind a quality dish. Scrolling through your site I came across ~ Tomato, Cucumber & Avocado Salad… for Breakfast! I’m all over this and can’t wait for next weekend. You speak so passionately about it, that the first time I try it might be with dinner.

I’ll let you know how it goes.

Bon Appétit
Aaron

Hi Kristen,

The blog looks great! My taste buds are thinking about that great cranberry sauce and the Amaretto poached pears. I will have to keep that in mind for the next turkey meal at Christmas!

I’m looking forward to seeing more food ideas!
