How to be a food blogger

Hello there!

It’s been quite the week here with all these Cooking Up an Income Reports. I hope you haven’t tired of them yet. I tried to break it up a little with some tasty Soy Ginger Noodles and a deelish Pulled Pork Chili recipe, and I promise to bake you something sweet and delicious after this post is out :)

So here are the numbers for December:

  • Google Adsense – $109.40
  • Infolinks – $61.09
  • Viglink – $0
  • Ligit – $$9.20

Total Blog Income = $179.69

Here’s what Google Analytics had to say:

How to be a food blogger

You’ll notice that there was a big drop this month in the number of people who came by The Endless Meal. This might have had something to do with the only *cough* 3 new posts put up. Still, considering all the eating and shopping and entertaining (and not blogging) that was going on around here in December, it is pretty amazing that so many awesome peeps still stopped by for a visit.

You’ll notice that the top spot for referral traffic in December belongs to Pinterest. The amount of traffic The Endless Meal receives from Pinterest has been steadily climbing. My hunch is that it has been climbing higher in direct correlation to the photography here improving.

Time for me to get in the kitchen and start baking you that big batch of cookies I promised. Keep an eye out for them in the next few days :)

Thanks for sharing. :) That pulled pork chili looked yummy–great idea to use it in chili.

I had a quick question–how do you use google adwords to make money for your blog? It looks like a way to advertise your blog–is that right? How do you make money off of that?

Just curious-thanks!

Hi Julia,

Oops .. that was a typo!

It was supposed to read (and does not) Adsense, not Adwords :)

I love your blog and these income reports are so fascinating, I can’t wait to see where you end up a year from now. One thing I would like to see in these going forward (if you are able to) is showing which posts are getting the most visits per month. For instance in any given month what were the three or five most popular posts. Keep up the good work!

Hi Erin,

Thank you so much for the feedback. I will chat about that in January’s Cooking Up an Income Report :)
